YAL Bulletin

November 2006

Saturday, October 28, 2006 at 12:42

A VERY BIG THANK YOU to to all the YAL members and friends who volunteered at the Gyro/Souvlaki Booth during the Fall Festival. Your support was greatly appreciated. The success that we experienced (despite the inclement weather) would not have been possible without your hard work and support. The YAL would like to thank Aris and Themis Chronis for generously hosting the post-festival thank you party at their house in Arlington.

Last but not least, another very big thank you to everyone for your support throughout the year of our monthly Sandwich-making for the Homeless charity event. Through the end of October, the YAL has made and donated to the Bailey’s Crossroads Community Shelter for Men and Women in Falls Church a record 7,450 sandwiches, compared to 3,200 sandwiches that we donated for all of 2005. During the months of November and December, as we reflect on how much God has blessed each and everyone of us, let’s not forget that there are so many members of our community who are less fortunate than us. We have revised our goal for 2006—10,000 sandwiches—but we can't do it without your help. Please join us on Monday, November 13th at 7:30pm in the kitchen of the Cultural Center. Please bring two or three loaves of sandwich bread and two or three packages of deli meats and cheeses. Most importantly, please pass the word to all your friends and invite them to come and help out! Afterwards, as we do each month, the YAL will go out for dinner to a local restaurant. For more information, please contact Dean Bellas at stemnitsa@hotmail.com.

The YAL will play Basketball in the community center on Mondays, November 6, 20, and 27, starting at 8:00pm. For more information, please contact Aris Chronis at achronis@lawsontarter.com.

Don’t forget to purchase your tickets today for the annual YAL Weekend to be held over the Veteran’s Day holiday weekend. We are expecting over 500 young adults from all over the country! Go to www.DCGreeks.com  to purchase your tickets, please.

The YAL, in conjunction with Saint Katherine Church, will be co-hosting a New Year’s Eve Party at the Cultural Center. Music by Zephyros! This New Year’s Eve party will be like no other party that you have ever attended in the past. For more information and to purchase your tickets at the unbelievably low price of $65.00 per person, please go to www.DCGreeks.com. This special discount price is good only up to December 1st. After December 1st, the ticket prices go up.
